Labor Creations
I am Jamie, A Work At Home Mom of two beautiful children, my 6 year old son, and 2 year old daughter. I've experienced two very different birth stories. The first, an emergency c-section at 31 weeks due to major complications. It was too dangerous for me to remain conscious, and my sweet husband was only allowed to stand at the door of the operating room. We both missed our sons birth. I despaired over it for years, even tho my son was growing and doing quite well. I was terrified of getting pregnant again, fearing the same outcome, or worse. God worked on me, and I began to heal. The fear went away, and lo and behold the test showed that second line. We were excited, but apprehensive. With each passing week of the pregnancy we felt relieved.
I sought for information on Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC). I found it. I found a support system and made new friends. I decided that I wanted to give birth to my baby naturally, with no drugs whatsoever. Most people in my part of the country look you in the face and tell you "you're crazy for wanting a natural birth" and "why would you go through that pain if you don't have to?" My answer was, I don't want to risk the side effects of the drugs. But it was much more than that. Birthing naturally was one of the most amazing experiences anyone could ask for.
The epidural rate in my city is 98%, with a c-section rate of over 30%. I was disappointed. I felt my chances of that drug free birth, and even a vaginal birth slipping away. But, as most of my family will tell you, I'm a stubborn person. I practiced breathing, worked on massage techniques, talked to women who'd been through it. I discovered something very important along the way; the medical community tends to treat pregnancy and birth as an illness, a problem. But I realized the joy of pregnancy, and the miracle of giving birth. Happily, the drug free hospital VBAC of my 8lb baby girl, after 34 hours of labor. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Birth is not a problem that needs to be fixed, It's a miracle. I started Labor Creations because I want to help women embrace that miracle. To have an arsenal of supplies and information to help them give birth. I've put together these kits going from my own experiences, and taking information from others' experiences. I hope that the research I've gathered, and the tools in my kits will equip other women to put aside the fear of birth, and live their very own miracle.
